Book tastes

I'm horrible at this type of thing. As you can see from my library, I have wide-ranging tastes. Aside from my primary interest in non-fiction about East Asian art and history, I like books about the history of things, biographies of great cities and books about art crime (fiction like Portrait of a Thief by Grace Li, or non-fiction like Stealing the Mystic Lamb by Noah Charney). Thrillers or biographies where the main character/person is cosmopolitan and hops from country to country. I also like "antiquarian romances." That is books about lost manuscripts, scholars chasing after artifacts, etc. Examples: Gospel by Wilton Barnhardt, Angelopolis, The Archimedes Codex, Name of the Rose, etc.

Don't get this!

Books about East Asia unless you are very confident that someone with decades of experience will find it interesting. I can't think of too many other things to avoid. Possibly books about sports as I don't follow any but, that said, there could be a book that talks about sports culturally that will blow me away. Who knows?
