Book tastes

I like science fiction (both classic and contemporary) and contemporary literary fiction. Good characters, strong prose, interesting themes are nice. Overall, I am interested in books that you think I might be interested, based on my reading tastes. I include a list below of authors I am actively seeking. This isn't to say you have to get me a book by one of them (though I would appreciate it if you did) but just to give you an idea of the kind of stuff I like, which hopefully sparks a thought about something you like. I like discovering new authors!

GENERAL LIT: Julian Barnes, A. S. Byatt, Italo Calvino, Lawrence Durrell, Umberto Eco, Rachel Ferguson, Graham Greene, David Peace, Nevil Shute, Jeanette Winterson

Don't get this!

I have very specific tastes in nonfiction, graphic novels, Victorian fiction, YA lit, and media tie-ins; please don't give me any of this.

Other notes

I like collecting books in high-quality reprint series: Penguin Classics, SF Masterworks, Tor Essentials, Persephone. If a book you want to get me exists in such an edition, I would appreciate it!
