Book tastes

I read a lot of fantasy/sci-fi, slanting towards epics. Good stories from an author that does something really well usually catch my interest. All time favorite authors/books: Butcher (Codex Alera vs Dresden), Terry Brooks (Shannara), C.S. Friedman - This Alien Shore, Ernest Cline's - Ready Player ... series, Tolkien, Lawhead, the Prydain Chronicles, Margaret Weis Star of the Guardians. I've also really enjoyed early J. Abercrombie, early S.M Stirling, S. Lynch, R. Jordan, Eddings, B.Weeks, Tad Williams, Heinlein, Alistair MacLean, China Mieville.

Don't get this!

I had trouble connecting with G.R.R. Martin's work (or shows, for that matter), Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy, Andy Weir's Hail Mary. The book that's disappointed me the most in the last 10 years was Ernest Cline's Armada.

Other notes

If your tastes are even remotely similar to mine, I'm open and excited to see what books are YOUR favorites. If you think there's even a slight chance I might like it, I probably will! Oh, and used books are great!
