Book tastes

Varied genre fiction, plus a select mix of non-fiction:See my library! Genre fiction - SF and Fantasy, crime, adventure and thriller....mostly.
Non-fiction: I do read some. I like travel and adventure, especially caving related (not many available - although there's some recent books on the Thai rescue). Gardening and cooking. Some biographies, especially adventure related.

Don't get this!

Time travel, historical fantasy (or history in general), romance. I'm sure there are many books in those genres that are excellent, but too many them aren't to my tastes to be worth the chance of you finding that one.
YA. I know I have a lot in my library- especially Fantasy and UF, and some of it's quite good. But I prefer the more complex themes of non-YA work. Wheel of Time, I've tried it, and I don't like it.
Humor. Even Humour is unlikely to fit with my sense of what's actually funny.
Politics. religion. Graphic novels. True crime

Other notes

I have a wishlist, - it's books that have caught my attention on LT Talk, rather than anything specific. There's also a lot of series that are still unfinished. I like to discover authors new to me. I've reviewed and rated pretty much everything I've read while I've been on LT, which is a more nuanced guide than genre.
Also read a lot of ebooks (non-amazon!). So maybe an illustrated book might work as they aren't practical for ebooks.
I tend to enjoy books with well developed world building - where there is a sense of continuity about the world and places, not just episodes the heroes pass through.
I like enjoy and prefer morally ambiguous characters and situations where it isn't clear what the "right" action is, and the characters have to live with, and justify, their choices (this is not the same as making mistakes, but acknowledging the world is complex).
There are also ebooks that aren't available in the UK, usually by US authors (CJ Cherryh, Julie Czerneda etc) for which pbook copies would be appreciated -check my series for specifics
