Book tastes

Interested in learning more about Israel, Palestine and how we got here: see below. I love mysteries, young adult (realistic fiction mostly), popular fiction, biographies, history, politics and some middle grade books. My favourite books that I've read this year are The Grey Wolf by Louise Penny, The Last Devil To Die by Richard Osman, The Last Applicant by Rebecca Hanover and Open Wide the Gates by Brian Cunnington (to be fair, I'm still reading Brian's book but he was my professor in graduate school and I know he understands busyness). Anything on my wishlist is welcome, regardless of how long ago I listed it and I am thrilled to receive your favourite book even if it falls outside the parameters above.

Don't get this!

I'm not a huge fan of romance, either erotica or cozy (is that a category?) or sci-fi/fantasy. Please no recipe books, self-help, graphic novels or books in languages other than English (translated books are fine, I just received a book in French once and although I wish I was, I'm not bilingual).

Other notes

Our postal service may go on strike if the ads on the radio are any indication but I don't mind receiving books centred around the holiday, even if I don't get them on time. I read Nita Prose's The Mistletoe Mystery a few weeks ago and enjoyed it!
I'm also interested in receiving a really great book that explores the history of the Middle East, specifically the history of Israel and Gaza and how we got to this point. Many, many moons ago I read a couple of fiction books about the British withdrawal from Israel but they were written by Christian Zionists. I don't know anything about this topic aside from what's probably biased information and I love history. I have no idea where to begin but maybe my Santa can help. No pressure though if this isn't your thing!
